Why we use data

The European Association of Tax Law Professors (EATLP), as data controller, processes your personal data in order to maintain a database of the current or former members, which is necessary for the internal directory, and the publication of current members list and working groups on the website, as well as to manage the payment of the membership fee. This processing is necessary for the performance of the contract of membership of the EATLP.

In addition, the EATLP processes your personal data to allow relevant universities to organize congresses each year, to establish statistics regardingcongress participation. Such operations are based on the organizer and EATLP’s legitimate interest to organize, promote and measure attendance to the congress.

Also, if you have in the past submitted an answer to the annual EATLP questionnaire, the EATLP has processed your personal data in order to prepare the annual congress as well as for the conduct of studies and publication of the final national reports on the website and tax research platform. This processing is based on EATLP’s legitimate interest to promote tax law research (and on your consent given at the time of submission that you can revoke at any time).

How we use data

The collected data is essential for the processing and intended to EATLP’s relevant departments as well as to its service providers and partners (congress organizers), which are established in Europe (as well as to the public on the website for identity). Card details and contact details of EATLP’s members are processed by a payment service provider, which hosts data in Europe. In some specific cases, identity and contact details may be transferred to partners (congress organizers) that may be established in countries that do not provide an adequate level of protection. In these cases, EATLP enters into appropriate agreements to protect your data with the relevant safeguards. You can obtain a copy of these agreements.

Your data is kept for the duration of the membership increased by 10 years as an archive except for (i) payment means details that will be kept by the service provider for 18 months after payment (ii) data sent to congress organizers and congress participation data that will be deleted within 24 months following the congress, and (iii) answers to the annual EATLP questionnaire which will be retained as a separate contribution for a duration of 12 months following compilation within the final national report, then - with your consent - published in such report on the website and tax research platform.
